I met Rebecca and Rene for the first time at their favorite hangout pub in Capitol Hill. We had fun eating sushi and getting to know one another. We did a few photos there to help them remember their special hangout place many years from now.
We continued on with photos at Volunteer Park and then at Leschi Park. I got to know what they liked and what they didn’t which is always helpful before actually photographing the wedding. I quickly realized that they are big Seattle Seahawk fans. So I was mindful of that on their engagement session and wedding day.
One thing I was really excited about when I talked with them during the one hour consultation before the wedding was the food. Rene said that they were going to have a great selection of Mexican food which is one of my favorites! I eat Mexican food more than any other food! And boy did they have a great spread of Mexican food and hot sauces at their wedding! Unfortunately, as a wedding photographer, I don’t get to sit very long and enjoy the food. But the ten minutes that I had to enjoy all the Mexican food was the food highlight of my week!
Their wedding day started off with one of the biggest downpours I had seen all year as I was driving to the place where Rebecca was getting ready. We had planned for photos in some nice outdoor locations because we wanted to be optimistic even though we knew there was a good chance for rain because it was the rainy season. After taking a few getting ready shots, the weather cleared up and allowed us to go to all the locations we had discussed which included Jose Rizal Park and Pioneer Square.
One part of the wedding photography time we improvised on was some setup shots at Zeitgeist Coffee. Rene and Rebecca played the part well for those coffee scenes!
After the ceremony was finished at the Court in the Square, we headed upstairs where they signed their marriage license. Then we took the elevator to the roof to capture the blue hour which is one of the two good times of the day for photography.
For the remainder of the wedding day, Rebecca and Rene mingled with their friends and family, listened and laughed together to funny toasts, and danced the night away! It was a fun party with plenty of good food and drink, music from a DJ and live mariachi band, and lots of guests enjoying themselves dancing!
Thanks to my awesome 2nd photographer, Paul, for helping me capture some great moments! Best wishes for a fantastic new year and marriage for Rebecca and Rene!
