It’s official! My 2015 wedding season has begun! Thanks to Chase and Nicole for helping me kick off the season with a no pressure/stress wedding. The day started off with Nicole getting ready at the Rosehill Community Center while Chase and others helped with the setup of the ceremony area of the center. Considering their wedding date was March 7th, I was surprised but pleased of the good weather we had for their special day. We didn’t get the typical Northwest gloom with rain day. Over all, the nice sunny weather made everything light up more in the photos. It’s always nice to have a blue sky for a backdrop to a lighthouse. But the sun can also make it challenging to keep harsh shadows off of people’s faces and to keep people from squinting. Thanks to my assistant and 2nd photographer, Jared, for helping me get good photos with the use of a reflector!
After photographing Nicole and Chase for their first look inside the community center, the bridal party joined us at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park for some photos. We did a few more photos of just Nicole & Chase at the beach before we headed back to the community center for photos of the family and one last photo of the bridal party before it was time for Nicole to hide from her arriving guests.
The ceremony went smoothly after the ring security officer walked down the aisle to secure the path for the bride.
I liked how the bride’s father gave the “Don’t hurt my daughter or you’re a dead man” look just before he gave her away to Chase.
After the ceremony, the reception kicked off with food, toasts, first dances, everyone dancing, and then some cake cutting. It was great to see so many smiling faces there. A good reminder of why I like photographing weddings. Everyone was there for a joyful celebration of two people in love tying the knot. Okay, maybe not everyone since it looked like some people were there for the delicious pasta the way I saw them devouring the food!
