Walker and Grace enjoyed their special day at the Seattle Tennis Club. They had some crazy weather for a summer wedding in the Northwest. The weather forecasters called for rain and possible thunderstorms for their big day. They predicted it would rain by 1:30 PM. When I arrived at the Seattle Tennis Club, I saw a lot of clouds and no patches of blue sky. Fortunately, we got all of our photos done outside by 2:45 PM and had some sun with the clouds acting like a nice diffuser of light for perfect photos! We were lucky we didn’t get any rain even though there were reports of rain from all around the area.
Grace and Walker had decided the day before the wedding, based on the weather forecast, to have their wedding indoors at the Seattle Tennis Club. But when they looked outside and saw some patches of blue sky two hours before the ceremony, they decided to go with the original plan of having it outside. The weather forecasters had updated their forecast for a 60% chance of rain during their ceremony time.
As their ceremony approached, so did the ominous dark clouds all around us. After Grace had walked down the aisle to meet Walker, light showers started. Then we heard thunder in the distance and I started wondering if it was such a good idea for my assistant to hold an umbrella over me as I photographed the wedding. Fortunately, the ceremony was only 11 minutes long so their guests didn’t have to endure too many sprinkles. After the ceremony, everyone went back inside to the reception area. After another hour, I looked out the window to see a downpour and realized how lucky we were to only get a sprinkle.
When everyone was finished with dinner, I looked outside again and saw the clouds starting to leave and blue sky coming in. I was very excited because I knew from doing landscape sunset photos that the sky was ripe for an incredible sunset. And sure enough, it didn’t disappoint!
