Alex and Kristine’s wedding day started off with Kristine getting ready at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. It’s considered one of Seattle’s finest hotels. If you’re in the Seattle area during the Christmas season, be sure to stop by the hotel. They have a pretty incredible display!
After Kristine put on her dress, we left for their wedding and reception venue at Salty’s on Alki Beach. We did their first look and the rest of their photos across the street from Salty’s instead of the waterfront with the Seattle cityscape in the background for a few reasons. First, there were a lot of geese and goslings taking over the grass mounds by the water and it would’ve been quite the careful navigation for the bride not to step into any of the minds the geese left behind. Second, we had already done photos in that area for the engagement session. See my blog post from that session here. Third, the sun would’ve been in their eyes if I had posed them with the cityscape in the background. I feel like the background I chose was a nice one for the nature scene and backlight.
Once the first look, bridal party, and family photos were all complete, we walked across the street to Salty’s where the couple could hide and relax before the ceremony. The ceremony went smoothly with success. Afterwards, Kristine and Alex joined their friends and family for some celebration with hors d’oeuvres and good drink followed by a delicious dinner buffet that included a Northwest favorite – salmon!
After dinner, toasts were given and then Kristine and Alex joined hands for their first dance as a married couple. Once they finished their dancing, it was dance time for all of their guests!
For Alex and Kristine’s exit, they chose to go with sparklers. I was surprised to learn that they chose Uber as their choice of transportation to leave the venue. It was the first time I had seen Uber being used to drive the bride and groom to their destination. I have a feeling I will see Uber much more often given their recent popularity.
A big thank you to my second photographer, Paul, who captured some great scenes with me. Congratulations to Alex and Kristine!!!
